Takealot and Kalahari merge

On the one hand, it's great that local etailers are working together to compete against international etailers.
On the other hand, there goes the majority of the local competition.

Optimistically, we might see Kalahari's frequent vouchers with Takealot's delivery, packaging and tracking service :D
Pessimistically, eish... Raru, here I go.

There goes free delivery and properly competitive prices. Takealot, not Kalahari.

What the actual ****?
I can't believe this.

That being said, as long as they take the Takealot business model and not Kakaharis, everything should be fine.

Competition..... These are the only 2 real players.

Now what.

One of the biggest stumbling blocks of online shopping is the courier delivery.

It is impractical to sit in one place and wait for the courier to deliver for hours on end.

SA's couriers really need to establish a system whereby they can pin down deliveries to within an hour and send you a notification via sms/im that the delivery will take place shortly. This will also give the consignee the opportunity to inform them if nobody will be able to take delivery of the shipment thereby saving them money not having to drive up and down repeatedly.

Monopoly is baaad mkay?

If you have cash, it is apparently easy to kill the opposision.

Takealot-owend mr delivery used to call ahead and ask what time would suit you. And usually they were accurate. And they also deliver outside of working hours...

wtf :wtf: i want to be optimistic but hey this is SA and this could end very badly especially if the pricing goes up not down and then what about delivery, i just got used to good delivery times with takealot hopefully this wont be impacted.
