Takealot Group grows revenue to R13 billion, still makes R111 million loss

If they hit $1 billion turnover next year, that would be absolutely massive. It's even more impressive when you consider how depressed the South Africa economy is and how many families don't actually have the disposable income to spend.

For the first time I think they may actually manage to be profitable n the near future.
You pay tax on profit and dividends.

So like Amazon did, they reinvest everything and follow a growth strategy.

You were saying they could be profitable in the near future, just pointing out it’s not their goal. They are probably already profitable but just spending the money on expanding.
It absolutely is their goal. If it wasn't, they wouldn't have kept telling us they'll be profitable "in the next 5 years" in all their earning reports for the past 10 years. I'm not saying growth isn't priority but they luckily understand that the market is very different to when Amazon was pushing the "growth above all else" strategy. Many smaller companies and startups have fallen face first into that trap.

Naspers is big enough to compete with Amazon on home ground. This competition will be good for us.

R111 million in loss but still operating, didn't get it

What's this about Amazon, why would they even come here?

Who is fooling who? TAKE A LOT making a R 111million loss !!!
Anyone heard of creative accounting?
