Takealot responded to the complaint, stating it is not an ASA member and that the organization’s rulings are therefore not binding to it.
The complaint that Takealot’s advertisement promising a discounted price was misleading was upheld, and it advised the company not to repeat this advertising.
Not much the ASA can do except alert the public to Takealot's scam behavior.Takealot responded to the complaint, stating it is not an ASA member and that the organization’s rulings are therefore not binding to it.
What difference does it make if Takealot isn't a ASA member?
While they are at it, they can take a look at this ad as well:

They do not own the Internet, so how can they sell it to you?
Here we go, everyone will now say they don't buy from Takealot.
What pisses me off more about takealot is when they say something has a huge discount and then you shop around and that's actually the normal price. Even worse is when those products are sold by third parties on takealot and the "special" price is the normal price via the 3rd party direct. Seen this happen a few times with products from Readers Warehouse. Basically inflating an artificial discount to make it look like a good deal.
