Yep they don't come with power cables, just get some kettle plugs and you're good to go.

To monitor the status of the UPS, charge remaining etc. The UPS is supplied with software to load on your PC (usually Windows only).What would the USB out be for? Charging devices or something similar?

And more importantly to broadcast a shut down signal to all your machines. The primary purpose of small UPS units is to give you enough time to shut down safely.

The RCT and Mecer devices work on Linux too.
I noticed that on my RCT UPS instruction. Its more to prevent people from plugging in every appliance they own and trust me, they do. I'm currently using a multiplug on mine as I run a telephone and speedpoint that use 2 pin plugs.

Hoping that I can simply splice kettle-plug male-ends on to some of my electronics (I.e external HDD enclosure), to be able to use all the outlets efficiently!...
