For our latest online shopping test, we ordered the same 128GB Sandisk Ultra Fit USB thumb drive from the Amazon.co.za, Incredible, Makro, and Takealot.
You need to run these tests from outside of a major metropolitan area.

while Takealot charged a standard R35 for collecting from one of its pickup points.

Amazon delivery has been tops. Free & pretty much next day for most of my orders. Takealot just keeps trying to push their takealot more nonsense on you.

Was also impressed with Amazon who delivered a parcel just before Christmas in the middle of nowhere in a small Eastern Cape dorpie in record time. It wasn't the cheapest, but was not gonna risk it with Makro.

Takealot is a lot slower for Cape Town and DBN customers, even when it is in the local warehouse. They rarely ship the next day, there is almost always an extra day's delay.

Geewiz will generally get a package to me from Joburg to Cape Town a day quicker than Takealot.

Wootware is the quickest as they often ship the same day, with it arriving early the next morning, but that is CPT to CPT. but they also outperform Takealot JBH to JHB.

Makro has always been a "sometime next week" type of thing.

Have not tried Amazon, they rarely have something we need at a good price.

They blame temu, it's all temus fault oh wait sorry they want people to sign up for takealot more

I think everyone who shops online compares prices first then delivery. I buy most non electric stuff these days on Temu with a 10 to 15 day delivery. Next day delivery is nice but not essential.

I’m convinced they’ve now started purposely making “normal” deliveries slower just to push More harder.

I ordered something from Makro for R550, got notifications every step of the way - from being packed to the courier being on his way. Delivery was free and arrived the next day. My takealot order placed on the same day arrived 3 days later.

Ordered a ladder from Makro in Decemeber and the experience was much the same. The only problem I had was they decided to deliver 3 days before their listed delivery date, and there was no way to reschedule. So I caused my own delay because I missed the courier.

They have a promotion on where everything sold by Amazon (not the stuff sold by third parties) has free next day delivery. I've ordered something for under R20 and received free delivery

Be careful of buying from Third parties on Amazon, as if the product is not correct it is your responsibility to book and pay courier to return it.
