Takealot versus Makro — the winner is clear

An ecommerce test by MyBroadband Insights revealed that Takealot offers the best overall ecommerce service among large online retailers.

Ecommerce is experiencing tremendous growth in South Africa. A recent study by World Wide Worx revealed that online retail doubled in two years.

Everyshop is a new player in the game, they need to get with the program........quick.

Saw their ID requirement for new accounts way back when they were first mentioned. Not a huge deal, but I still can't understand why they're still forcing something that's gonna deter a lot of people. Completely forgot they existed until this article again. Will have forgotten again by tomorrow.

Makro still puts only the very bare minimum effort into its online operation. Most of their effort goes into spin that claims to be taking online seriously. Not sure who they are trying to kid or the point of talking it up while doing nothing.

Makro's search function is almost useless, especially if it's a two word search like "brand product". Like Nestle chocolate.

Takealot also spends a lot more on SEO and Google ads.

Have you actually used Takelot’s search function? It’s garbage. Typing in the exact product name and you can’t find it.

Google does a much better job when you just say “Takealot Xxxx”

It’s pretty sad when the new kid on the block with the lowest volumes is the slowest.

Hardly inclined to even try them unless there is some very special product offering nobody else has.

What are you talking about? Their search caching is absolutely world class!

You just have to type the first 4 letters of the word "testing" to see what I mean.

Wait... is there an actual testicle grooming kit?
Update: No there isn't, but I wonder what this poor poor search bot was exposed to.

Commented on the Aritcle, but I know its not going to be accepted so posting here for posterity:

"What if I only want product 2, oh no, Makro wins because Takealot free delivery doesn't kick in below R450 (which we failed to mention in the article). But we won't show that comparison."

I'd probably used TakeAlot most of the time, so not trying to prove they're not best, just pointing out the drivel that gets posted by "writers" on what is supposed to be a news site.

I agree with the test results, based on my experience with all 3.
Although Takealot is getting too big imo and is dropping the ball more often, but still miles ahead of Makro & Everyshop.

Takealot no 1 - fast delivery ,easy return system, great stock variety.

The other 2 is crap in comparison.

Agree here, if I had the choice between a range of suppliers at the same cost, I'd take Takealot for the convenience. And even if slightly more expensive, would still take for the convenience, unless they somehow started sucking really bad.

I dig Takealot
Being supporting them since they were Take2
And I supported Kalahari.net

Then they merged like a beautiful marriage

Takealot FTW

Their delivery service is world-class and so is their no-nonsense return policy, and for that, I will continue supporting them even if they are not the cheapest

Still waiting for takealot to refund an item not delivered and priority shipping when they were 3 days late.

30% pass mark ?
