Yesterday morning I received the following SMS from +27840001207:

We would like to talk to you about your data experience. Please SMS your contact number to 33269 so that we can call you to arrange a time. SMS is free. Cell C.

Now this is the number that I usually receive notifications about interruptions to the MyTools service, so I assumed it was legitimate.

I SMS'd my contact number to 33269 and was charged R2.00. Shortly thereafter I received the following SMS from +27840003922:

Your entry is incorrect, please sms the keyword first followed by the rest of the info required

What is going on?

I also got this yesterday, but I didn't respond. I though it was a scam. Looks like it is.

Received mine today, I ignored and deleted it. After reading this thread, I'm glad I did.

Also received one, but from Vodacom I think. Just ignored it like usual, the same as with phone calls from anyone trying to sell me something.
