My line speeds are incredibly slow and regularly gets disconnected (at least every half an hour). My download speeds sometimes drop below 1mbps. Telkom has indicated that, because I'm far from an exchange I can expect problems unless I drop my line speed. I've gone as low as 7mb but still experience problems.

The line is obviously slower during general peak usage hours, but even at night I rarely get > 3Mbps these days. During the day I often can't even listen to a song on Soundcloud without it pausing to buffer.

1979 I am experiencing exactly the same problems as you and I am on a 2mb circuit.

Our line suffers disconnections on a daily basis, slow throughput speeds and generally behaves erratically. I'm faced with calling Telkom at least once a week to request a report which works for a day or so then quality degrades again.

My ISP is Telkom. When I was in Jhb with MWEB my line quality was far better - no complaints. I can't provide all the details re ping speeds etc as responding from work.

Glad to hear it's not just me Orvor! Please let me know if you manage to sort anything out with Telkom...
