SARS says you cannot claim travelling from home to work for business purposes.

if i work for a company but I need to go out to clients without going to the company's address first can I still claim for the business travel on those days?

if its for work and you have to put it on your logsheet to get paid then you can claim it as it isn't private km.

so if my work address is A but I spend 3 months at client X without ever going to address A, can I claim all the travel as business travel?

I think you can (not 100% sure though)...

I know all the guys at my work use the work rules (Shorter of office/home) for SARS too though because if SARS is on your case about the travel then company can back you up.

I stand to be corrected but afaik in this instance you would take the distance from home to office off the distance from home to clients premises and claim if there is a positive difference...

Sounds about right. Put another way, you can only claim the distance from office to client and not home to client if the latter is further. The employer pays you to drive from your work address to clients and not from your home. That is if you are an employee receiving a travel allowance. If you are a private contractor working from home you can claim the full distance to clients.
