So most of my life ive been employed, thus my tax was always done partly y my employer and i did e filing.
Now its been about two years since i stated freelance web and graphic design and things are going relatively well with the :business" . However from a business point of view i know nothing about taxes. Ive tried looking around google on our countries laws , the bit that i found in search results however dont really make much sense to me. Anybody know of a easier way to learn about these things?

Im no expert but my suggestion would be to contact a competent accounting firm (doesn't have to be one of the big 4 -KPMG) to get proper advice.

It's not something that you want to stuff up- esp provisional tax. I've seen enough many companies close shop as a result of owing the taxman huge sums of money that they didn't plan for.

Get an accountant.

Also, look into the SME tax structure. Google it. It is quite beneficial for a small company with less than R500 000 profit.

i think you are referring to an SBC, not and SME. he would not qualify for an SBC. there are many rules and restrictions to qualifying for an SBC. working for and just by oneself is self employed a exempts you as a business. among the other criteria he would have to have 3 employees(un connected)
