The price of petrol came down R1.61 at midnight but taxi commuters cannot expect any relief. According to a taxi driver interviewed on the radio this morning he needs his bonus and he'll get it by gouging his passengers.

Some tosser from the taxi association said on 702 yesterday to JCW that the taxi industry has been running at a loss so that is why they cannot decrease fare prices. Bwahahahah

Is anyone surprised by this? When fuel prices go up, all prices go up. When fuel prices go down, nobody seems to notice. But, here is the funny part, when the prices go up again back to what they were a few weeks/months ago, prices go up again!

Talk about getting the raw end of the deal...

In related news, some chap phoned in and said that Putco has distributed a circular saying their fares were going up around 11% in January.

I can understand that some costs do go up but surely a large part of Putco's costs are fuel related?

Yeah - but the this morning it wasn't about making up an operating shortfall, it was about a bonus.

My name is Bonus Agiveme and even though I don't pay tax, fines or anything else I need a bonus for the Christmas. If the taxi usas don't like it they must walk but not in the taxi lane or I just runs them over. Eish, love this new South Afica!!

Rough translation: My name is illegal immigrant and I don't pay tax, fines or anything else that could improve this country and I want more money. If Joe Public, who the government doesn't provide reasonable public transport for, doesn't like my attitude, TOUGH, they can walk but they must not walk on the pavement, car park, side of the road or in the emergency lane or they will be run over. I love the lawlessness of this country, just watch how I abuse it!
