A man believed to be a bodybuilder was arrested after allegedly shooting a taxi driver and then exchanging fire with the police in Roodepoort.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Mathapelo Peters said the man, 26, fled the crime scene in Honeydew, after shooting and injuring a taxi driver in an alleged road rage incident.
He was cornered and arrested in Douglasdale after a high-speed police chase.
"The taxi driver was rushed to hospital with injuries and no police officer was injured during the shooting.

"Inside the suspect's vehicle, police recovered an SAPS bulletproof vest, police rank insignia and military style items, three firearms- two pistols and a shot gun, 800 rounds of ammunition of different calibre firearms including R5, pistols, AK47 and shot gun magazines and other dangerous weapons.
"Serial numbers of the three confiscated firearms were removed. Further investigations will be conducted to establish possible linkage to previous crimes," said Peters.

Quite the arsenal, wonder if he was going to do something - or simply transporting the cache to someone else

Report needs to spell out in more detail all the ammo he had -- perhaps it is all SAPS issue ?
Dude was obviously running from cops because of all the contraband in his vehicle

Is / Was he perhaps a member of the SAPS ?
or
A gangsta ?
( Not that there is much difference these days )

Roids dont make you rage though ...... its dependant on the person .
Having multiple unlicenced guns in the car may be a factor in the rage thing though.

The guy is an organised criminal and they chose to label him a "bodybuilder"? What's wrong with these media institutions???
I mean, pick a label .. ok... Bodybuilder. Yes, that is the best description for a guy who attempts to murder someone.
No doubt roids can play a part in short term decision making, but this was more than that.

In my experience, people who take 'roids are quite aggressive once triggered.
Agree, but it takes meticulous thought and planning to be in possession of what he had in his vehicle. Possibly the same thought and planning that led him to become a roid head.
