We seem to have a lot of brotherly love emanating from Natal at the moment, so I thought it appropriate to announce this.

Now before GayTechie hurts something getting to Durban, let me explain:

The Vodafone / Vodacom policy is that Linux is not 'officially' supported. This is still the case.

However, some of the technical people in Vodacom did not 'officially' agree with this and decided to support Linux via this forum. Anonymously, of course.

This is what we've seen the last two years or so with Tazz_Tux providing excellent Linux support to the forum.

Tazz_Tux is actually one of the Vodacom Data Specialists, based in Durbs, (but we won't hold that against him.)

'Data Specialist' is probably an understatement as he is (as typical Linux fundis tend to be) a specialist at many things. He also built the Vodacom speed test all by himself (and one day, when I get the licensing sorted, it'll be our official speed test).

Our support on Linux will thus continue in the same way:

You can't call 155 (yet) for Linux support, but come to myADSL and Tazz_Tux will do his damnest to sort you out.

I do think Tazz deserves a huge thank you from the forum for the level of support he's been offering, all by himself and in his spare time.

Would never have guessed it... you sure had me fooled Tazz_Tux :D
Although I do remember wondering how he managed to get hold of all the various cards..

Second that! Thanks very much Tazz! :D You're a credit to your company,
I for one would never have bought a VC data card if I hadn't been at least 95% sure it would get going under Linux... even though I don't use VC for data any longer I reckon they owe you one.. ;)

Tazz_Tux, thank you, you helped me get 3G going in Ubuntu a few hundred posts back in the Linux How2 sticky, and I have just renewed efforts to get you the Linux Guru recognition you deserve, hopefully + a little extra :).

Firstly, before everyone else rushes off to Durbs, never said TT is gay, but I do believe he is quite cute.....or so Brad told me, in any case ;)

His coming out-of-the-closet bit was as a Vodacom person, what else he's got in the closet, I've got no idea. :)
