No worries, I get it. For most of us (on this forum) the whole TV license issue is not about the money, it's about the principle.

Yeah, as much as we wail about it, we do generally understand. If you import a "TV Set" then its deemed to have a tuner in it and must follow all of those requirements.

Pisses on our battery because as @deweyzeph said, its not actually about the money, its the principle of it in terms of the TV License and funding the SABC corruption and incompetence.

Appreciate it and understand your point of view too, that's just a broad category conversation that's really a top-level brand and industry level thing I can't address, unfortunately.

are these basically the exact same as those Amazon branded TV's they announced a few years back?

I'll ask tech to confirm but I am 90% sure that's not the case. All the models I've been involved with have very recent tech.

Good for SA as long as the customs duties arent too bad.. Really affordable TV's with decent quality..

Have a 43" 4k in the bedroom, and no issues... Software can be a little finicky at times and TV may need a reboot every now and then otherwise quite happy.

Good for you. Have to say, these prices surprised me, When they come online tomorrow I think the market will be happy. Then we have Black Friday coming up too!

Muhammed-Izhaar Ebrahim, sales manager at TCL South Africa, said that the TVs would initially be available through Takealot and key distribution partner Atlas Appliances. TCL promised to announce more sales channels soon.

When the queries about the screen uniformity and buggy software with few updates being rolled out start on these pages, TCL SA will not answer them. We have seen this movie before with Hisense, unfortunately. And while you may say you are not Hisense, you are still a manufacturer and, sadly, once you have my money you won’t care. As it is, you are not shipping your US models here. Why? Is it because America is an unforgiving market that requires you to be on your A game, while SA will allow you to skate by?

We were waiting for the sets to be live before announcing on our facebook page.

Some sets did go live on Wednesday afternoon, I believe there were some issues that kept the full range being listed, but they should all be available soon.

At the moment Takealot, and we're announcing some in-store retailers soon, we just need to confirm the logistics of when they will be available and where. We don't want to send folks to stores where we are not going to have the models they want.

We won't have a 43" with HDMI2.1 unfortunately. Smallest we'd have with that connection is a 50" P725
