We're here to talk and engage, we know this community is more engaged and enthusiastic than a general audience and we'll do what we can to solve issues, answer questions and do what we can to help customers, potential customers and the public.“Almost” being the key word ;-)
When the queries about the screen uniformity and buggy software with few updates being rolled out start on these pages, TCL SA will not answer them. We have seen this movie before with Hisense, unfortunately. And while you may say you are not Hisense, you are still a manufacturer and, sadly, once you have my money you won’t care. As it is, you are not shipping your US models here. Why? Is it because America is an unforgiving market that requires you to be on your A game, while SA will allow you to skate by?
On the USA vs SA stock: I've got a more formal answer coming for you on that I'll tag you in, but it's got to do with more than just the market. You're not wrong; the USA is a competitive market, but there's also some other differences and standards that make things different. There's also market factors, the fact that we're entering into SA fresh, which means we may not bring in everything at once.
SA and TCL are in a new relationship, so give us a chance before you judge us until we've been here for a bit.
We're here with good intentions. We have a 3 year warranty, we get parts from the same factory as the USA does and we assemble locally. So there's no reason to assume a lack of quality. Yes, the models are different, I've asked the tech team to help with a formal answer on that, some of the more advanced models will arrive in 2022.
But that shouldn't be a reason to assume we're intentionally entering the market with low-quality.
Remember, a lot of the decisions also have to do with the markets use-case of a TV, which would include if a market (mass market) will use features, like 8k, and if they have the content, bandwidth, market, etc. Questions like; is it worth bringing in an 8k flagship into a market where 8k is likely not going to be in the market for a year or more. Then other issues, like affordability and adoption.
However, I'll get you the answer from "the suits" when I can, I just didn't want to avoid this question/statement before then.
