I'm noticing an improvement as well.
But it does not seem consistent.

Was seeing a difference in delays on the 41.x.x.x versus 197.x.x.x ranges yesterday.
That seems to be sorted now.
Testing continues....NOT

Lol!! Access to Gtalk and Gmail from Cell C is busted at the moment.
(as noted in the other thread)

Now what???

I wonder if this issue and the fact that Google is now dead is not related....

IT trying to fix the issue and broke something internally.

Nope. Something has been done though and my gmail and WhatsApp delays have almost vanished. Moses says this is however only a temporary fix. They are waiting for a fix from the vendor. I am assuming vendor as in the supplier of the billing system.

Now that I am using my Defy the whole time, the email delays are unacceptable. Has there been any improvement is there anything that can be done?

Does this temporary fix only affect your number? (Since they moved you onto a certain server). I don't notice any improvements, still the same problems.

I really dont know. What I will do is tomorrow when my other 2Gig Cell C sim gets recharged with data I will test it with that one. I just tested again with Gmail and it came through instantly. I do have a suspicion this might be on my number only...but will confirm tomorrow.

Can the cell c rep please come here and comment on this issue. We need something official stated here, we are getting info from someone who didn't even work for cell c.

All my Gtalk, Gmail and WhatsApp test messages so far this morning, have been coming through within seconds.

But, I am still seeing plenty of "hung" CLOSE_WAIT connections (7 at the moment) on the Cell C test phone, which I do not see on the Vodacom test phone. (both Android). All these "hung" connections oddly enough involve ports 80 and 443.

I wonder what the impact of all these CLOSE_WAIT connections is having on our Cell C smartphone's resources and performance?

I have requested feedback from Moses @ Cell C regarding the permanent and overall fix for everyone from the system vendor. Waiting for him to reply.

Seems like a case of one step forward and two steps back....

Port 5228 C2DM only works when I "wake" it up by sending a Gtalk message outbound from my Cell C phone.
Then, suddenly my pending inbound Whatsapp, Gmail and Gtalk test messages all show up together from my Vodacom phone.

We're still not there yet :(

Moses replied. Said they have not yet received a solution from the vendor
