Just tested with gmail. Seems to be working fine. Guess it was just a temporary glitch. *shrugs*. Sjoe...very relieved. :)

Rather disappointing news :(:(
Looks like if you happen to get an IP address within the 197.168.0.0 - 197.175.255.255 range, then the delay problems are back.
Gtalk tests are failing after an 8min inactivity period. (test message finally came through after 20mins)

It looks like there are two blocks of addresses that are being allocated to users within the 197 range:

---- 197.104.0.0 - 197.111.255.255 (not currently being allocated, anyone getting one of these?)
No Gtalk etc. delay problems, but problem with freeverse.com and unrestricted APN 41.55.x.x access (previously noted)

---- 197.168.0.0 - 197.175.255.255 (currently being allocated)
Gtalk etc delay problems (8mins), but freeverse.com and unrestricted APN 41.55.x.x access is working.

41.x addresses seem to be working properly and are not suffering with any of the above mentioned problems.

Yip, problem is back. I'm on 197.168.196.x IP range. With their new expensive prices starting soon and a network that does not work correctly, I'm afraid it is the end of the road for me with Cell-C.

Looks like they have switched back to allocating IP addresses in the 197.104.0.0 - 197.111.255.255 range.
In fact, I have not even got a 41.x address since the day before yesterday.

Not noticing any of those "problem" delays at the moment.

Can't check unrestricted APN access, as that is down at the moment.

Sorry for resurrecting old threads, but it's probably best to continue with one than restart the discussion from scratch.

I've been having a lot of delayed messaging between my phone (S60) and my wife's phone (S40). At first (for a few weeks) it worked fine, but now messages are just not getting through. Sometimes we have to power off/on before they arrive.

I've also noticed delays when "whatsapping" (is that a valid verb?) other users.

Anyone else seeing problems?

Are both phones on Cell C?
Do you have any utility running that may be putting the data connection to sleep to save on battery power or data usage perhaps?

Yes, they're both on CellC. One is a Nokia C3, the other is a Nokia E-72. No "conservation" utilities are running on either phone.

I updated the Whatsapp software on the E-72 last night, and it seems to be working fine right now (although that could just be momentary, we'll see soon enough).

I found some other (older) threads on the forum that indicated a period of Whatsapp problems similar to this late last year on the other networks as well, and I'm wondering if this is happening again?

Did some WhatsApp tests:

HTC DHD - Cell C
Vodafone V858 - Vodacom/Cell C

Messages, Cell C to Cell C both ways - within seconds.
Messages, Cell C to Vodacom both ways - within seconds.

Seems to be working normally.
