Silly question, but you work for Vodacom, why dont you have a Vodacom contract? Surely they would offer you a great deal?

I dont work for Vodacom directly and therefore am not entitled to a staff account. When I used to have a Vodacom account I paid for it in full and out of my own pocket.

According to Viva on mybb it is also a problem on Nokia phones and I would therefore assume Iphones also. I do know that Apple has a dedicated push service but I do not know about Nokia. I told him I would make mention of this in here so that is what I am doing.

Can a rep from Cell C comment on all this, I'm about to get the R3000 data sim offer for my HTC Flyer....

I've also been referring my clients to Cell C for the use of their affordable data offering... if this is the case, I need to warn them! - not to me mention, me not using them.

I have the same problem on my N8 wen using cell c. Whatsapp messages get sent out and received every 20-30 minutes, same goes for emails. Most of the time I have to disconnect and then reconnect just so I could receive messages/emails. With mtn I get constant connection and messages/emails always arrive on time.

My money is on a firewalling issue on cell-c's side, or similar.

Almost sounds like they block incoming connections so push never works, only pull. Maybe blocking some ports they shouldn't be?

Every time I see people getting burned because they think they can trust CellC because they changed their corporate colours, I just giggle.

I guess the fact that I use Juice defender is why I dont notice it.

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.latedroid.juicedefender

Juice defender turns off my 3G when phone is asleep, it turns the 3G on every 10 minutes to sync and then off again. This is done so that I dont run with 3G on all the time ie: saving battery life. Its also schedule not to poll while I sleep. I hate SMS's or Google chats waking me up.

I have no need for it. My battery lasts me comfortably for almost two days with phone on 2G EDGE on all the time. Phone just turns data off from 22:00 - 07:00.

I listen to the radio the whole day at work.

Ok yours is bigger than mine, I just mentioned Juicedefender because of the polling of 3G and the fact that I didnt notice Cell C's issue with push lag. :)

g]

I understand. :)

BUT...I dont want my phone to have to poll........Android has push built in...AND I WANT IT TO WORK DAMMIT!

AND push is much better for your battery than the phone having to poll frequently....as I understand it anyway.

:)
