I don't buy top brands mostly because its ridiculously expensive and partially because I don't care. If it looks nice and fits nice why not?
So yesterday I walk into Edgars and asks the assistant what their cheapest jean label is they stock. She glared at me with that you-cheap-shyte look and said Stone Harbour of course (why the "of course" needed to be in there beats me).
Walked out with a R449 pair of jeans which I liked. Today I visited AC Kermans (please don't, i beg of you..) and got a similar but better looking and fitting jean for R149. WTF?

Take it back. R449 is way too much for that.
Abzo I'm not lying, I double checked with 2 staff members and that price was correct. Also thought it was priced incorrectly. But nooooo....

Private shop sells and fits all brands (Wrangler, Lee, Levi, etc) and the fitting happens while you wait. And enjoy a beer. And the price? Same as edgars. Place in Fourways mall.

Since learning this, I won't touch other chains again except for the R150 jeans. They're cheaper than denim shorts so I buy them and cut the legs off.

But you don't like it so take it back and get 2 more pairs from AC Kermans.
I do like it, not that bad. I'm going to get 1 or 2 extra pairs at AC Kermans anyway. Just wondered about the price differences in different clothing stores for more or less the same stuff.

You wear denim shorts? You're over 55 right? :p

Its like cars. You get a BMW and a Kia.

Both have the same size engines. Both get you from A to B. The Kia might come with more stuff as standard. Some people may be of the opinion the Kia looks better.

But the BMW will still cost more.

Same goes with the Stone Harbour vs Ackermans jeans or any other brand.

jayjays sale. Nice fitting pair of jeans for R90. They have lasted much longer than any big label pair I've bought. I doubt any of the larger people will find anything as I think size 34 are the largest.

You want to know about the SA clothing industry ?

It sucks !

A friend of mine lost his clothing CMT - manufacturing - after 20 years and employing about 200 staff

There are 4 big clothing groups in SA and they all ran to China for rock bottom prices - causing the wipe-out of hundreds of small and big business in their wake. Never mind the all the unemployed breadwinners of families

I have personally seen staff putting a retail tag for R299 on a garment, which the manufacturer sold to them at R38

You will be shocked to know the real price from China for that R300 - R400 garment you see at these big retailers

It's all for the chase to shareholders money
