Guys, on the topic of jeans. Like joelus, I have also been wearing the same levi's for the past 9 years, 34W 36L, normal dark blue 501. The reason I have been wearing them for so long is becuase I can't find any other jeans that's long enough, levi's apperently don't make them anymore.

Anyone know where the hell I can find a normal dark blue jean that's longer than normal sizes? And trust me, I have looked almost every where! I am in the CPT area.

Hope someone can help.

Wow, reading this thread makes me wonder, am I just very obsessive about my clothes, or are other people just very stingy about buying clothes?

I don't really mind how much something costs and I've got a variety of cheaper as well as more expensive brands in my closet. If I see something that looks nice, I buy it. If something I like is a bit on the costly side, why not buy it? Within reason, of course, but generally I don't mind spending a bit more on decent clothes.

Dressing well is still important, at the end of the day, which is why I don't understand people who are stingy with buying clothes. And unfortunately it's just a fact of life that often the nicer clothes are those you have to shell out a bit more for. I've got a friend who is absolutely stingy with buying clothes and he looks like he strode out of a squatter camp. Frankly, sometimes it's rather embarrassing to be seen with him in public. You only live once, right? So why look like a tramp while doing so?

Same goes for people wearing the same clothes for 10 years in a row. Fashion changes. You don't have to keep up with the fashion industry and change clothes every 3 months, but at the very least try and buy yourself a few new things every year or second year. Keep your closet relatively up to date.

Also consider that for some people their clothing is not the highlight of their day. It's just not THAT important for some.

Oh, it's not the highlight of my day either. Is dressing nicely really such a hassle for people? It takes me, at most, about a minute or two to decide what to wear in the morning. It takes almost nothing of me and I sure as hell look a lot better than anyone whose dress routine looks like follows;

Monday: Jeans and T-shirt
Tuesday: Jeans and T-shirt
Wednesday: Jeans and T-shirt
Thursday: Jeans and T-shirt
Friday: Jeans and T-shirt
Saturday: Jeans and T-shirt
Sunday: Jeans and button shirt.

What do you wear then? Maroon skinny jeans with a cardigan and keffiyeh around your neck? :D

I think mistake #1 is going to Edgars for clothes.

Walked into Edgars in Tygervalley Mall, about 2 weeks ago, looked at the prices of a pair of Levi Jeans: R899 <-- I was like WUT!!
Decided screw that, walked out, just opposite Edgars is a Levi Store selling only Levi clothes, exame same pair going for R599.

Now that is still pretty expensive IMHO, but just to show you, Edgars is totally overpriced and will screw your wallet every way possible.
That taught me a lesson though...don't walk into a mall and expect good prices on clothes.

And I know you said to not say anything AC Kermans...but people really call Ackermans that?

Anyone who buys anything from Mr Price should be shot. As my father used to say, 'k#k van die satan.'

Their clothes are not only ugly, but the quality is so terrible that you're left wondering if the clothes aren't manufactured in sweatshops filled with orangutans. I honestly don't get why that place is always so packed.

Maybe you should take your yuppy attitude out of your crack and realise that some people might only be able to afford Mr. Price clothing. That the reason they buy there is because that is what they can afford. If you feel like shooting people with less money than you, please go ahead

Huh? Where did I say anything about poor people and what 'yuppy' attitude? I'm making a comment on the shjt quality of Mr Price clothing.

Besides, if the reason you're buying from Mr Price is because of a lack of funds, there are countless other places in the same price range where you can get much better quality clothing. Ackermans, PEP, Jet and Pick 'n Pay Clothing all fall within the same price category and the quality is a lot better than Mr Price. Mr Price's clothes are mass-produced garbage that is of atrocious quality.

Take any Mr Price T-shirt, and after the second wash you can chuck it in the bin because it will be worn out. I bought a bunch of colored, unprinted T-shirts from Pick 'n Pay Clothing two years back and most of them are still fine today. The ones I bought from Mr Price I threw out about a month after buying.

........ The quality in SA is just dreadful. You really have to see the clothes in the cheaper UK stores and US stores to see just how bad we are getting shafted in SA - especially with Brand name (Surf brands) made under license in SA. It's appalling........

I concur. You just have to look at the seam quality of clothing bought on cheap specials abroad as compared to local "brand" names to realise the difference in quality workmanship.

Well ok, valid point...their quality is low. Retracting earlier accusation of you being yuppy, only if you tell me that you've bought clothing from the aforementioned stores like PEP :p

BTW, you did say people buying from Mr. Price should be shot (figuratively speaking I hope)
