Teaching aide had unprotected sex with troubled schoolboy, 14, in the trunk of her SUV
A teacher’s aide faces life years in jail after being convicted of having unprotected sex with a troubled 14 year-old student in the trunk of her car.
Jerica Enriquez, 26, is said to have abused the boy, who has behavioral issues, after getting to know him during a ‘cool-down walk’ in Autumn 2016, which students at her former school were encouraged to take during a bad day.
Enriquez, who worked at Jefferson Junior High School in Greeley, Colo., then began sexting the boy, sending him texts and Facebook messages of herself with no clothes on. Less than a week later, they had sex without a condom in the trunk of her red Saturn SUV at a local park, reports the Greeley Tribune. She sexually molested the boy again a week later by having sex with him in the same place, before he broke up with her.
Enriquez later told the boy she felt unwell and feared she might be pregnant with his child, before texting him a photo of a negative pregnancy test. She also sent nude photos of herself to the two other schoolboys, and was arrested in December 2016. She was convicted of sexual assault of a child and promotion of obscenity to a minor by a jury Wednesday. Enriquez’s defense attorneys had tried to discredit her victim by highlighting his criminal record after he was convicted of shoplifting and harassment, as well as his self-confessed behavior issues. Weld District Attorney Michael rourke said after: ‘This defendant was someone who was supposed to lead and guide these students on a better path.
‘All kids are vulnerable, but these kids are at an alternative school for a reason and are even more at risk than other kids their age.’ She will be sentenced on August 9, with lawyers pushing for 12 years to life behind bars.
