Why cant we have the death penalty? Do anyone really believe that this fine speciman of garbage can be rehabilitated?
Because of Section 11 of the Constitution.
It basically states "Everybody has the right to life". Ironically, abortion is perfectly legal during any phase of pregnancy (if you can make up an excuse to do so in the last trimester). Our constitution doesn't recognise a foetus as a human being until birth. However, if you abort the feotus yourself, you're guilty of the crime of concealment of birth.
A whole lot of WTAF's in our legal system.
Interesting tidbit: do you know that we do not extradite to countries that have capital punishment, unless they give us assurance that, if found guilty, the condemned will not be executed?
