Telegram CEO Pavel Durov arrested in France

French authorities detained the chief executive officer of Telegram, Pavel Durov, at an airport near Paris on Saturday for alleged offenses related to the messaging app, Agence France-Presse reported, citing officials it didn’t identify.

Russian-born Durov was arrested at Le Bourget airport, the report said, citing one of the officials. The 39-year-old billionaire is suspected of failing to take steps to prevent criminal use of Telegram, AFP said, adding he’s expected to appear in court on Sunday.

this is the world we live in, the powerful control everything including social networks,
and if one decides to stand apart and do its own thing, just wait until somebody decides to use their influence to change that,

Julian assange circus 2.0.
maybe he will hide out in a Russian embassy?

On the Forum discussion side of it, somebody links a The Guardian article on this arrest and on Telegram, but it's very vague, lacks info.
On other sites there is more info, stating that French authorities had long serious problems with Telegram as it has become THE network for cybercrime, hacking, and drug cartels, money laundering.
Dutch authorities have long forbidden Telegram on ALL official govt and municipal phones, because of cyber spionage, money laundering hacking and all kind of illegal activities going on there.
I guess there are some limits to encryption and free speech.
When a few years back there was a lot of uproar and security, privacy concerns about WA, I only added Signal on my phone. Never trusted Telegram.

We have received your request for review.

This is what I tried to post on Disqus, below the article.
But it was refused.
