Telkom’s network performance shows why spectrum is important

The allocation of temporary spectrum by ICASA to South African mobile operators in April has underscored how access to additional spectrum results in improved network performance.

Telkom is a great example of this, as evidenced by data collected by MyBroadband through its speed test application.

My MTN mobile data is blazingly fast since cockdown. Telkom is spotty and drops a lot - waaaay worse than MTN.

Something in me don't see ICASA taking back the temporary spectrum.

Yeah Telkom now seem to have Band 20 LTE also and that is temp spectrum. Certain handsets can now do 4 x LTE carrier aggregation on Telkom which is nice.

Unfortunately not everywhere, especially smaller cities like welkom and so forth.
