The fixed-line operator is rebalancing its national and international bandwidth pricing.

This follows arguments by the Communications Users Authority of SA (CUASA) that Telkom's international connectivity and national backhaul pricing structure is so disparate that it nullifies government's infrastructure investments.

Telkom group executive for corporate communications Lulu Letlape did not provide details as to how the process would take shape, or when the re-balanced tariffs would be filed with the Independent Communications Authority of SA.

Rebalancing is like pass the parcel, or in this case the Vaseline... someone is gonna get screwed.

Probably, as in lower local prices but more expensive int'l (I mean, we couldn't expect TELKOM to lower their profits in any way)

"Rebalancing" sounds more like charging less for one piece and more for another, but in the end still get the same amount of money from their captured users.

"Rebalancing" is what you do to a rubber tyre and wheel when it is wobbling too much. But in Telkom's case this is impossible cos they are still using ox-wagon wheels :| Their best option is put three wheels on one side of the cart and one on the other side.

"Rebalancing" is adjusting prices so that loss of business is passed on the suckers (oops, sorry, clients) in order to maintain growth in income. Sort of like floor crossing.

Most likely something like ...

Give all non-priority (read "lower income") accounts "free" weekend calls.

Give "free" installations in "non-eben eryas".

Write off all debt from past "unwise" installations.

Charge those bandwidth thieves using ADSL (us) double.

There. Books "rebalanced".

I'm guessing it's gonna be something like when they increased line rental and decreased adls rental.
