haha, Telkom are terrible.

My line was 10mbps, but there were giant latency issues so was downgraded to 4mbps - later on turned out to be a telkom network issue in my area.

Called 10219 - told they only do service upgrades, not adjustments, and I must call 0800 375 375.
Called 0800 375 375 - told they can't assist me, and I must call 10215. I asked why and his response was just 'you must just call them they will help you.
Called 10215 - it's a Telkomsa.net number, they definitely won't help me, they're not even my ISP.

Rage.

I dialed 0800 375 375, chose 1 (I think) for existing customer, then 1 (I think again :D) for 'add new service'. The operator helped me out in seconds. Easy peasy.

If if your exchange can be upgraded, the rest of what the site reports is important to remember:

"Your exchange supports up to 10Mbps fastest ADSL. The provision of such a service is subject to port availability, distance, copper quality and line sync speed limitations."

So there are covering themselves when your line only syncs at 4Mbps :)

Except that my line stats equal 24 mbps and I got 4 mbps so they dont cover everything :p

SNR Margin (0.1 dB): 301 260
Attenuation (0.1 dB): 80 35
Output Power (0.1 dBm): 73 121
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 11840 1200

Looks like they have finally properly updated the site. My exchange now says it is supported, which the previous adsl checker did not. Is there any cost in upgrading from 4mb to 10mb and how long does it usually take?

:wtf: I'm already on 4mbps... exchange now supports 10mbps... what's up with the "infrastructure related problems"?

To confirm whether your exchange support ADSL and to check the speed supported, please enter your telephone number in the field as indicated below

Telephone Number: 021552****
Example: 0125554433

ADSL Support : Your exchange support ADSL

Max speed supported by your exchange: 10240

Your exchange supports ADSL. Unfortunately but due to infrastructure related problems cannot offer an ADSL service.

Should you wish to register your details in order be contacted when the infrastructure issues are resolved, please register.

Bandwidth Down/Up(kbps) 6144 / 635
SNR Margin Down/Up(dB) 18.1 / 13.6
Attenuation Down/Up(dB) 38.0 / 20.9
