telkom 10mb checker updated today!!

Guys need some help I called Telkom and they said my exchange is 10 mb but my line isn't??? I am on adsl and not adsl2 any advice?

you need switch mode from gmt to adsl 2 on your router.

not sure about netgear, but should be in wan settings, normally a drop down menu

Just checked now. My exchange supports 10Mbps. Will phone Telkom tonight and see how close I get to that "magical" 10. Check link below:

Finally - about 2mths ago my ADSL went down and came up about 30mins later whilst I was talking to Faults who said it was caused by upgrading the exchange to 10Mbps but the old checker said I was still limited to 4Mbps.

Connection dropped for about 10mins yesterday @ 17:00 and on reading this post I checked with the above results

yes gmt max is 8mb, adsl 2 can go way over 8mb

Maybe, but it is still not accurate.

I know for fact that I can get 10mbps but the online checker says NO.

Mine did the same until the previous update.

Telkom upgraded me to 6Meg 'cause his thing said thats what I should get... should I take his word for it?

10 Mbps upgrade update.

I phoned 10219 to upgrade; they checked, said my copper only supported 6Mbs and performed the upgrade, I rebooted my modem to test with the above results.

Previous speedtest.net figures at 4Mbps were consistent at 3.4 down, 0.41 up so it's not the 50% increase I expected but it is an improvement

BTW they give you a ref no for the upgrade to quote to faults if you should experience problems at the new speed.

F cuking Telkom won't upgrade me, they say call this number, called 5 different numbers and keep getting referred and this my friends is why we are a 10th world pit and now some rocket scientist says if I am on 10mb it will automatically be on 10mb they don't do anything on their side, so tell me if my line can support it and the exchange can support it what's the freaking problem?
