Well I think I'm lucky considering I don't have what it says my speed is lol

Maximum speed available in your area is 1Mbps
Your current product speed is : 4Mbps
INTERESTED IN A HIGHER DSL SPEED?

Consider yourself lucky...

My Stats:
SNR Margin: 29.5
Line Attenuation: 56.5
Data Rate: 1024 kbps

Cant get a faster connection than 1mbps without it being unstable. :(

My stats allow around 13mbps. Stupid exchange is stupid and restricted to 6

I assume you spoke to adsl support on 10210?
Try speaking to new services and see if they will bump it up to 10Mbps
The 6Mbps story is because they don't want exchange to become congested with too many 10Mbps users - well that is my theory because I was in same boat as you until someone in ADSL support advised me to speak to new services

Is there a fee involved with the line upgrade? I see, according to the telkom site, that my line can take the 1Mbps and if I want to upgrade I must fill in the online documentation.

If you request it NOW, then yes.

However, if you wait for the Aug/Sep upgrades then it is free.

exchange supports ADSL

Maximum speed available in your area is 1Mbps

Your current product speed is : 4Mbps

Interested in a higher DSL speed?

Please note: The provision of Telkom's ADSL service is subject to network availability, distance, copper quality and line sync speed limitations. ADSL is a best-effort service.

They really need to update their systems cos im connecting at 8Mb

Yip, been battling with this for months. I know there are people in our neighbourhood that have 4Mbps, but our number shows a max of 1Mbps on the site. Which we currently have. Would love to get 10Mbps but sounds like the exchange is full in the 4-10Mbps ports..... :-(

It appears that they take the worst connection in the exchange and show that on the checker. Crazy.

Same here, but still says "product is 4Mbps", and speed unchanged yet. Wonder when the speed bump to 10 will happen?

Hi Doug_Dread.
In my case I will have to upgrade my account with my ISP to utilise the 10Mb, I am on 4Mb uncapped at present.
Not prepared to pay the extra $ as I am not essentially a downloader, but collectively the whole family consumes quite a bit of data, hence the reason I recently moved to an uncapped account.
Regards,
BTTB.

I'm on a Telkom 4/10Mbps package, so their general upgrade from this month isn't really relevant, they owe me a bump.
