Telkom 20Mbps and 40Mbps VDSL prices and launch plans

Does not compute. Someone do some sums - how long to rip through that teensy 5GB?

You know that is not hard capped right? Essentially that is uncapped 20/40 Mbps (depending on how much they throttle your connection)

Yay to faster speeds... but 5gigs? I do that in less than a day on 1mbit. And this cannot be for companies, we do around 10 gig a day at the moment.

Should be great to see what Mweb offers as its 20/40 solutions.

Ok so will be able to get this? Probably only the few people who were in the trial from the start?

That is some excelent prices for the speeds you are getting

Nope, pretty sure they will be aggressive with the VDSL dslam rollouts. They really can't afford to be placid this time around, lots and lots of competition, LTE, etc, things are heating UP in this place :)

2013 should be a damn interesting year for SA Broadband.

Who cares? It still says 5GB. This is 20/40Mbps, not 56k. Clearly cybersmart are still smoking something from the 60's

Sheesh, that's pretty cheap. Unfortunately the ISP fees will murder you for an uncapped connection.

sorry I must have missed the plot...is this line rental PLUS 5GB data or just line rental?
if that is the case, this is "cheaper" than ADSL 4meg line rental alone! right???

does mean a potential reduction in 10/4/2/1mb packages and line rental prices? or another potential bumping of speeds?

@rpm: Will Telkom have a list of exchanges that have been upgraded or will they have a site like that 10mbps checker which still doesn't work 100% accurately?

Hi there

Cybersmart is basically giving users 5GB free. The price is very close to wholesale access cost from Telkom Wholesale.

Well judging by how they roll out 10mb exchanges I think this will again be a case of just a few exchanges get it so that Telkom can "tick the boxes" and run marketing campaigns that compete against the LTE ones, but in reality the majority of us wont see this for a long time still...
