Telkom 4Mbps uncapped promo for R 599

Hi guys. Got a question regarding the promo. Is the promo truly uncapped or is there a threshold before you get throttled? If so, what is the threshold? And is there shaping? If so, how shaped is it?

And how is the experience on this promo so far?

Well let me try an assist, there's three tiers of throttling

Tier 1: when you reach 300GB, your speed will be reduced to half for a short period of time

I think it's 7pm-9pm
The numbers below are estimates since i honestly can't remember :/

Tier 2, when you reach around 450Gbs or 500Gb
You'll be throttled for a much longer time period

Tier 3, don't remember the exact number but you'll be throttled the entire day at 60kbs

You can easily avoid being throttled by setting your downloads from midnight to 7am, during night surf your data usage doesn't get added to your monthly usage.

So you can download the entire Internet from midnight to 7am.

No shaping from my time using telkom, I get max speed all day, all night! Even on torrents!

Could not stream Netflix last night. Lots of buffering.
Changed to CW. No problems.
Hope there is an improvement. No CW after end of month.

Does this account allow concurrent connection i.e. Can use this account on an adsl line at one location and on vumatel fibre in another location ?

Most uncapped accounts only allow one connection at a time, and If you do get accounts that can be used in 2 locations they would probably halve the bandwidth as you only pay for a 4 meg you would only get 2 meg per connection if you have 2 connections and 1 meg if you have 4 connections.

I went for the 10 meg at R799, seems to be more value for money to me. Coming from a 4meg line this is great!

Anyone that tried to migrate their current package to this lower price point? btw, this R599 includes line rental and is available on month to month without device!

I pay R790 (closer included) a month for exactly the same, I want the saving too!

Wish I can upgrade to 10Mbps. Unfortunately budget for an internet connection is R 750 for everything incl Telkom.

Called them today (sales) and the lady was quite helpful. Upgrade complete, internet still working as I type here and will see at month end if really worked!
