We now have Telkom ADSL. Previously used MWEB dial-up. We use web mail (gmail) so no longer need MWEB mail.. do we still need an ISP MWEB if we have Telkom ADSL? Thanks for the advice :)

Thanks for the quick reply. Do you need any ISP at all even Telkom or just the Telkom ADSL account? I appreciate your help.

The ISP provides you with the account, so yes you do need one. You do reliase you have to pay for your ADSL line and then your data on top of that?

Yes, you need an isp. If you are going to be a high end user go with telkom isp as they have a relaxed capping policy and allow you to go over the 3gb limit. If you want to first test your usage or otherwise go with Web Africa. They have a 1gb prepaid option which carries the megs over that you don't use. (like cell companies).

I think I am not using some of the terms correct... so the bottom line is I do not need both Telkom and MWeb if I have another email account? And I just need to pay for Telkom ADSL 1 GB?

Thanks again.:)

Ok basicly you pay telkom for the adsl line rental then you need to pay an ISP for the for the adsl account, telkom is also an ISP so you can get an account from them but they only sell 2 and 3 gig accounts if you want a 1gig account get it from webafrica.

R245 - R516 adsl
ISP - +-R70 upwards (any isp)

MWEB = ISP
TelkomInternet = ISP

Telkom = Provides Telephone, ADSL, etc.

If you cancel your MWEB account, you WILL need another ISP account e.g. a TelkomInternet account.

Telkom gives the line. You need an ISP to give you access on that line.

The ISP can be Telkom or Mweb... or any of a miriad of co's.
