Telkom and MTN partner for new undersea fibre cable

lol.

We already have so many undersea fibre cables with heaps of bandwidth. What we need is cheaper IPC so that they can actually be used.

Once 4 k streaming becomes mainstream we will need the additional capacity. Over 6-8 years ago we didn't have solo much capacity www.cablemap.info

That site seems to have incorrect information, the BRICS cable:
The BRICS Cable is a planned optical fibre submarine communications cable system that carries telecommunications between the BRICS countries, specifically Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.[1] The cable was announced in 2012[1] but is still under construction as of 2015.[2] The project aims to provide bandwidth around the Southern Hemisphere of the globe, and to "ensure that developing nations’ communications are not all in the hands of the nations of the North".[3]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BRICS_Cable
while on your site it says: 12.8Tbps, 34000km, In Service:2014

Rather it would have been better many terrestrial fibre cables.

Trust me when it comes to terrestrial fibre there is loads in the ground just from Telkom alone. It's a last mile issue.

About 4yrs ago our entire village was trenched with fibre from about 4-5 different companies but to date the we've seen no products based on said fibre.

This seems like a politically motivated project if anything.
they will need to send/receive lots of little packets to keep the nuclear plants running....

and many of those little packets will be coded in mandarin too !!

and there will be a direct link with big packets flowing to Dubai and the Bank of India :p
