Telkom and SABC launch new TelkomONE streaming service

Telkom has partnered with the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) to launch a new online streaming service named TelkomONE.

The five-year partnership is a first-of-its-kind digital carriage agreement for the SABC and will include TV programmes radio platforms on a single online platform.

Regrettably, paying for anything SABC have left South Africans with bile in their mouths.
Next thing we hear are of your registration details being used to hunt you down for a TV Licence...

Ex cit. So Telkom and SABC? What can the SABC offer? What can Telkom offer? I think I read that DSTV include SABC channels? What's the use? You have to pay as well. WHAHAHA. Jeez, really? Get Amazon Firestick, have a decent internet connection and get connected to all channels across the world. Pay a once fee for the Firestick, I think in SA you can get it from take Takealot for about R 850, no subscription. Cancels out DSTV as well. A friend of mine in SA did this, he says it works like a charm.

I honestly cannot think who this is supposed to be marketed to? Looks like a scheme to trick gullible people into paying for something that's free, that's all I got.

In exchange, the SABC will receive a carriage licence fee as well as share in the advertising revenue generated on the TelkomONE platform.

Why are those numbers not given considering SABC is a public entity?

Like we didnt see this coming, tons of fuss about forcing streaming services to have 33% local content , and pay license fees to the sabc .... because you know the sabc cant compete without pulling everyone down XD

Anyhow this is going to flop especially with those prices XD and when it does they will just blame it on the other streaming content providers and force them to pay more in licensing, in their eyes its free money :/
