All of a sardine the issue resolved itself.

The only thing that I've done since last posting, was logging into my profile on my daughter's Macbook (to do some maintenance updates) and I noticed that it popped up a message saying that my Apple ID was now active on (insert Telkom number here) - when I checked my phone I saw that the 'tick' appeared next to the Telkom eSim number under Facetime indicating that it's now active.

So it seems that fiddling about with all those settings above got it working somehow.
Lucky fish. Tried signing out and reconfiguring Apple ID on Mac with Messages and still no go

So I have got an MTN sim card for Afrihost data. Loaded R10 airtime and then got the popup message on the Mac asking if I want to add the number for iMessage and FaceTime. So still have zero traction on Telkom side

and you're tried all those other tricks? (switching International roaming on and off and on via USSD, etc )

Telkom's backends are just a disaster

Has anyone tried Telkom's new Coverage Map on their phone? It sucks
It's default location is Gauteng but the moment you try moving the map around it goes to the Indian ocean and sticks there.
Maybe it's my phone but can someone try and give us some feedback.

This can only mean that it is a treasure map that you now have in your possession, Captain Phex!

Godspeed, and don't forget to share some loot.

Yup. Will go into a Telkom Store later in the week/weekend and see what the smart Telkom consultants have to say
