Telkom Business Landline Cancellation

Hi guys,

I need some advice please. We have gone to wireless phones and internet at work and are trying to cancel our ADSL and Landline for the business at Telkom. The last words our new company we are using for our new wireless phones and internet left us with is "now good luck canceling your Telkom, it can take from 6 months to a year".

I thought certainly it can not be that hard, but it seems to be true. We tried to cancel and they are asking all sorts of irrelevant documentation and company registration papers.....practically everything short of a DNA sample. Now, they are obviously doing this to make it as hard as possible to cancel our account and they can continue to charge us for our account.

My question is: Is there a way around this trickery of theirs? Certainly there must be a way to give them 30 days notice and then that is it????

Any advice will be appreciated.

TIA

Last year, around March/April, I did the admin for the cancellation of several business lines for the company I worked for. Unlike for residential lines, you can hand in the forms at the nearest Telkom office, and I stood at the counter until they had checked that everything was in order. There was something missing that they wanted on the first visit, so I had to go back. Once they were happy, the lines were cancelled within 24-48 hours, and once the notice period had elapsed that was it.
