Over the past 2 weeks I've called Telkom about 6 times trying to get my 10mb ADSL upgraded to 20mb VDSL.

Of those 6 times only once was the call answered before 40 minutes of waiting and this was to the upgrades department who quite quickly upgraded me to 20mb ADSL, not VDSL. Since then I've been bounced around going from department to department being told someone else deals with it or getting people who don't know the difference between ADSL and VDSL.

The breaking point came today when I was told my call would be answered "in 5 mintues" and then holding on for

That's right. 1 hour and 20 minutes and still no one answered. Needless to say I've given up. Well done Telkom, you have ground my will into dust. I'm still on ADSL.

My tip to anyone is don't phone their call center. I'm reasonably sure they actively don't answer their phones.

Unless they answer immediately hang up and phone again, only way I've gotten thru. There queuing system is idiotic, if u go onto hold you stay there and they don't reroute you.

I hope I never have to phone them again. Telkom still owes me a credit of about R150, but they can keep it. I'm fed up with phoning them.

/I would like to 'escalate' some of them

I also had to wait minimum 40 minutes before I got to speak to someone about my issues. They have just put in two telephone poles and finally connected a house that we rent out with a phone line so that we can finally offer our visitors free wifi.

Once they finally arrive in person, the technicians, do a pretty good job I must say. But the call center assistants and process involved? Ai makes one suicidal sometimes.
