@Jan It's not only Telkom. A week ago Standard Bank sent affected customers a message that their details may have been compromised by the Debt-In breach.

So SB, Telkom and African Bank, who else?
They look like they quite a prominent player in their field, I suspect there’s a lot more companies affected.

So after many years of digital insecurity issues, is there anybody thats think his data is not out there already-?

FNB - received a notification on the app on 23 September at 09:44:

FNB: Dear customer. There was a recent data incident at one of our third-party collections agents Debt-IN that has involved your information. We are in the process of investigating the details of this issue and will communicate further information when available. Please ensure FNB App notifications are on.

Hey Telkom, numbnuts...

How much info did Debt-In have on your customers? Be forthcoming about that ffs.
Also which customers would have been breached? All, or just those you had handed over to these incompetent morons?
I didn't receive any notification... does that mean I wasn't compromised?

No message means I dont have a debt collector after me.

Thanks debt-in

I wouldn't count on them not having your info. Your info is at credit bureaus if you have good or bad credit.

So, from the posts above, it seems more accurate to report that Debt-In had a breach, which impacted Standard Bank, FNB, Telkom and other customers who are in debt.

There been so, so many data breaches at big companies, and government that it is doudtful, that any citizens data has not been harvested and remains sacrosanct.

Is this before POPIA became effective or has it been reported to the information regulator?

Is it going to fix anything if it has been. Just another " I got hit by a data breach" oh, really, funny enough, so did I status collection.
