The latest to do so is Adept Internet, which has announced ADSL price cutbacks with immediate effect, offering capped 3GB for R179 and 30GB for R358.

I totally agree with Imaginet here. Unless LLU is implemented into the Bill, the prices for 10GB,20GB & 30GB will stay static.

Thought it was too good to be true

30GB for R358 would be very reasonable. Drop the line rental and it would be a perfect price for ADSL in SA. Still too much compared to a lot of other countries, but thats understandable, because bandwidth is expensive says Telkom.

I'm not saying its not true - just saw it in another thread. Anyone been in contact with adept? Their website needs updating either way.

Hi folks

I have just spoken to Adept's MD, Jacques Pieterse, and he has confirmed that these prices are correct (prices ex VAT). Their employees/website are not yet up to speed, but according to Johan you can order the products at the prices given in the article.

I spoke to a oke at Adept 30 minits ago, he said the article must be wrong, their offering is R480(inc) for 30 GB and their 30GB terminates when its used up.

It's posible thow that the poor oke has just been kept outa the loop thow.

There's no need to top it initially - just equal. Perhaps thats what their ad alluding to the big changes in 14 days is all about. Of course with the cat out of the bag they'd be better off telling us now before its too late for them.

This is awesome news indeed, but i think the effects will be far reaching. I have a sneaky suspicion that Telkom will be shocking us come August. Either their own 30GB offerings will be even less than Adept's or they will completely wipe the smirks off our faces by increasing line rental. Something just has to give...

The line rental rates are pretty much a done deal right? At least until they submit their next basket to ICASA?
