Telkom-controlled ADSL price war looms

You should consider waiting to hear what offers Axxess brings to the table before signing up with Adept. I can't see them undercutting by much, if anything, but they will probably match the price. I've personally never heard of Adept. Has anyone had any experience with them?

Our company has a leased line with them. No problems, good service, uptime excellent.

Personally I think this is awesome news, and I think this thread has been one of the least negative threads to happen in response to news like this. A significant decrease in line rental and ISP charge in one month is nothing to sniff at. It's a step in the right direction.

... and before someone whines about local cap limitation:
1) nothing is for certain yet
2) with cheaper 30gig accounts, the effect is lessened.

I also think that axxess should respond b4 august if they are really interested in keeping their clients. I have an account with them but am considering moving if I don't hear something soon. They must understand that if they don't respond soon, then they will have to face loss of clients. I personally don't c what the big deal with waiting for August is! they should just make the announcement(if any) now, so that their clients can make an informed decision.
Anyways, I have emailed them and hope to get a response soon.

Well Lucifir I emailed them a couple of days back and heres an extract from the mail I received.

Yes there will be new pricing etc...
Plus a few new products added. Just can't say to much at this time
as we need the final go-a-head from the powers that be :-(

But YES... good news for our customers if all goes well!!!!!!

I'm all for giving them all until the end of the month to make their offerings public but come Friday the 29th I'm going to decide so its in play by the the 1st.

I am in total agreement with u. I have had good experiences with axxess so far, so not too keen on moving just yet. However they need to get in gear or I will b changing to adept.

Heads up - Adept is requiring a 3 month contract ... and the price inclusive of VAT is R410 for and I quote "ADSL Uncapped 30GB access"

Their sales form explicity states "ADSL Uncapped 30GB Access" - seems to be a contradiction in terms ?

Here's the explanation I received ...

" It's now a "uncapped" until 30Gb and then same as the 3Gb. "

I knew that they were not month-to-month, one of the reasons why I am not keen to move over to them. But this stupid play on words is just ridiculous. If thats how they want to get clients rather than with their actual service offering, then I think it may be safer to stay away from them. Looks like I will stick with axxess for now.

anyone check the other thread where some guys called hyperlink or something like that are offering 30GB even cheaper, like R349. Things are starting to heat up . If axxess don't speak up soon, they gonna lose a lot of existing and new customers.

They are also on a month-2-month basis which sounds kewl. They sound a lot like axxess. Anyone got any experience with these guys? If they are decent I am definitely moving if axxess does not come to the party

Just my opinion but I think a new section needs to be set up for all of these threads about the price wars and the various offerings. They're currently littered all over the place.

Additionally - all reps of these companies should be given special designators so we know who they represent.
