I applied for 2 x 512kB ADSL + 2 x new line for our Pta & Roodepoort offices on 13 Oct 2006. Yesterday the Telkom techie calls me for the new line installation in Pta. I rush to the office at 12h00 on a Sunday to make sure it's done.

This morning the ADSL techie (contractor) call me for the ADSL installation in the Pta office. I was flabbergasted and almost fell off my chair!ADSL was installed and tested by 11h00 this morning. The funniest thing is that I have an ADSL line but no modem/router or ISP contract. Telkom was so fast (10 calendar days), they caught me with my pants down as I was only going to sign up with IS Uncapped Business at the end of the month.

Papi must have spoken some rough words to staff after the AGM last week! Hope he gave the same speech to the okes in the Jhb office 'cos I haven't heard a thing about the Roodepoort application.

So every cloud does have a silver lining!

You say you ordered 2 lines. Are you only going to buy one uncapped account or two, one for each line? Just be aware that most uncapped solutions only allow one concurrent connection. So just make sure before barganing on only getting one account.

Could I ask why you decided on two 512k lines instead on one 1024k(4096k) line?

WRT Telkom lines it is 1 x 512kb per branch. I am going to order uncapped IS business accounts for each branch for inter-branch VPN. No sense in going for 512kB 'cos IS state that the 1024k account does 256kB upload. I have not been able to verify if the 1024kB lines do 384kB upload so it makes no sense to spend the extra R1350 on a probable 128K upload speed increase.

Has anybody been able to confirm 384kb ( or close) upload speeds on IS Business Uncapped?
I think the 4096kb lines can do 640kb upload?

Telkom South Africa??

Are you guys sure that you are dealing with Telkom South Africa? I posted a fault on Friday, again on Saturday, again on Sunday (continuous disconnection of my ADSL connection - sometimes up to 2 hours) and, as expected, haven't heard anything from them. I do not have the time to sit and listen to their music on 10212, or on 0800375375. And I am also a Roodepoort boy - so this is not good news.
