Telkom DNS

My dad is having an issue with his telkom account, it seems their DNS is a little wonky. He thought it might be the router so he brought it to my place and it's working fine. I was getting weird issues like sites not loading CSS and websites just not resolving on his account, but when I swapped to my afrihost account everything starts working again. Anyone else having any issues like this on Telkom?

More importantly, why do you not change to Google's DNS or another provider.
