Hi People

Our Telkom hauwei home gateway router was reset, now it won't connect.

I've tried multiple ISP's too.

It was working before the password reset and no cables have been moved.

I've tried ethernet and dsl modes but don't know the rest of the settings.

Does anyone have the setup procedure?

Actually come to think of it.
Iirc
When I reset a client's a couple weeks back. The settings made no mention of the chap/pap option. After chatting to a telkom tech and switching that it worked

Thanks for the input.

Ended up calling 10210, pretty painless, reset password again, then it worked.

By default, after the modem is reset:
1)You should be connected as guest@telkomadsl or guest@telkomsa.net

(On older FTTH devices which don't auto-detect the WAN technology used, you would have to just change the WAN port to Ethernet WAN)

2)Trying to visit any website (or connecting a modern mobile device) should take you to https://customerportal.telkomsa.net/welcome , where you would have been able to reset your password (and it would automatically configure your modem).

I think the problem came in that we were trying the email password, and old account password didn't work (possibly changed but not written down), but only found this out when on the phone with the operator.

Thanks for the link for next time.

Yes, and the point is that the tool knows which account to use, can re-set the password (will SMS it to you for use on the portal) and send it to your modem for you.

For modems with WAN-detection, you don't need to log in to your modem (connect a mobile device to the WiFi, click the 'you need to log in tonuse the internet' notification, follow the prompts, enter the OTP, and you will be connected). You don't really need to remember the URL or bookmark it
...

On modems without WAN-detectiom tjat default to DSL, you do have to login to the modem, to change the WAN to Eth.
