Telkom 'Free Me' - free telkom to telkom calls

Except, you know, those 011 numbers that have ported to Neotel

I just ran out of airtime on a nice long call to an 011 number foolishly thinking I was making a free call. I just called Telkom to confirm and they tell me the number is now a Neotel number. So how is one supposed to tell these days if the number stays the same??

They normally make a beep beep beep sound before ringing

So now number portable is not the greatest thing since sliced bread?

Anyway, cellular makes the 3 beeps noises when dialling a ported number, landline... have no idea.
