Telkom's wall

Telkom was once the dominant force in the South African telecommunications market and a darling on the JSE.

However, a string of bad decisions and strategic blunders has caused the company to hit a wall, and it is now struggling to grow revenue and profit.

Companies can't grow into infinity. They just shouldn't be shrinking.

I remember the early internet days, holding on the line for 30mins to finally being answered by some idiot saying hold on while I check something and then you finally put the phone down after another 20 mins. Their service was and probable still is pathetic, they deserve what they get. I will not touch anything telkom all because how it treated customers in these early days.

Do business in Nigeria and find out.

We sure did
Oh, absolutely!

That is one country I wouldn't risk my company on. It has proven to be a bad omen too many times.

Telkom was a monopoly; nothing more.

South Africa under the apartheid government wasn't a democracy either, most people have fond memories of their captivity, still would if the NP hadn't sold out to the Americans, and of course the ANC coming in and selling off and in some instances giving away the countries strategic reserves on 2 separate occasions. During this time almost everything was a government monopoly, the only difference between the NP and the ANC is that the NP paid the bills and looted what is left, the ANC loots everything then raises taxes to try get money to pay the bills. END all government involvement in any private venture, in fact get the government back on the leash or replace it with one that knows it's place, firmly on its knees.
