Making a separate thread to document my experience going back to Hellkom...which has been surprisingly good so far.

Got mail from Crystal Web at 08:19 this morning to say my Line Migration has been updated.

Logged a "Call me Back" at 09:20 on Telkom's website where I entered my basic contact details.

09:27 got an SMS from Telkom stating the number they would be calling from and to confirm the "order"

09:34 got a call from a number marked as Spam by Truecaller but thanks to the SMS knew it was Telkom and it was by my request after all.

Got a very friendly, well spoken and knowledgeable chap by the unfortunate name of Courtney who clearly knew his stuff and ran through my details and the typical recorded conversation stuff and then I asked about the LIT Mediabox thing that should now be included and he just confirmed quickly that it can be added since it only officially launches tomorrow.

No problem there it was added to the package as well as the free Router which I don't really need but it's a nice to have anyway.

We got disconnected at some point but more than likely from my end as Vodacom is atrocious if I move around in my house. Immediately called me back and concluded the deal.

Overall I'm very impressed so far with Telkom and Courtney specifically, but he did warn me it might take up to 7 days to get sorted out but I'm hoping to receive the account details today still.

He made one legal mistake though in that he never ever mentioned this would be a 24-month contract and never asked me to accept those terms. I did however volunteer the word contract on my part which might have thrown it off though.

So now we wait for the account details.

I've been told the LIT box, Router and SIM would be arranged with a courier for delivery and I don't need to visit the shop to collect it as was the case in the past.

10:03 - I just got an SMS saying they tried to reach me but were unable to do so. Might just be an automatic system generated message after the call disconnect, or the signal is so **** now they really couldn't get to me.

Crystal Web cocking it all up with a "feasibility check" of something as simple as submitting a Line Migration request.

So no movement just yet.

Can you add some speed tests to a UK based server please

Unfortunately alreasy lost access to the CW account when I had the idea to do that.

Did test it on Vox though and will add for Telkom when I get there.

Considering that I'd be saving a bunch of money with Telkom's new packages, I'm curious to know what the general performance is like.

Unfortunately my line Migration has only been initiated today.

Not sure who to blame, CW or Openserve, but point is no testing yet.

What is it exactly that you wan't to know?

Mostly how the general experience is compared to other ISPs. I do keep an eye on the Telkom Internet thread and it seems to be mostly quiet, punctuated by big problems every now and then.

That's a pretty good indicator, it's quieter than others.

Well good old Telkom seemingly never processed the original order.

After eventually losing my patience today and finally calling them to ask wtf is going on I'm simply told there is no order on the system apart from a "speed upgrade" which I'm guessing can only be the migration back from CW to Telkom for line rental.

No speed change was ever involved.

Deep joy...

Well colour me impressed.

Received the account details via SMS this morning and set it up on my Router and worked first time without any drama.

The part that really impresses though is that they have a surprisingly detailed Customer Portal with everything you could possibly ever need from usage to FUP status to even a QOS Priority thing I need to take a deeper look at later.

Will definitely do some speed testing tomorrow but so far so good.

Wish I had just called them days ago and it probably would have been sorted instantly. Sometimes I have too much patience for my own good.

Just remember that when you set the qos speeds and you later upgrade to a higher speed line to readjust the qos speeds to match the new line speed else you will be running at the same old speed. Happened to me and I was blaming telkom :D

Finally :D . Am the same, have alot of patience for them. Lets see if the gonna fix our what was working fine mostly 10Mbps line last few years that is sitting at a 6Mbps line now after an area fault was attended to 16th August lol.

I think QoS is enabled by default on all uncapped accounts but yes, something to mention to everyone who had theirs set, especially if on capped too :p.

I would turn the QoS off and just manage everything at your edge.

Let him test and decide ;).
