They're sure pushing that database functionality.... and they must be on crack if they think 150MB of monthly traffic is enough.

I push more than that on DNS traffic, someone needs to give Telkom damagement a serious wake up call.

Hi

Previously I had a look at their pricing structure since I believed they might give unlimited traffic. I felt the same as Karnaugh about their pricing and general package…they must have lost complete touch with market related pricing!

Telkom's disregard for the public's needs and this recent post made it clear to me that you have some egotistical maniacs in Telkom who think that they are God's gift to IT in South Africa. They regard us all as idiots who can be guiled into using there meager and mostly crap service options for the price of an arm and a legg!

The fact that South African legistlators are really ignorant (not all of them [:)] ) doesn't help the situation as far as stopping this behaviour!

Forget market related pricing, I think they have lost touch with reality full stop.

We know where Telkom's profit is going, not towards developing telecoms services thats for sure, more along the lines of crack cocain!

Well lets see for the same price as Telkom's offering, you can get a dedicated celeron box (2.4 Ghz, 512mb ram and 60Gb hard drive) on a 100Mb port (with full dedicated access to the internet at generaly no less than 10Mbps).

Unfortunatly they do limit you to 1.2TB per month of transfer (yes, 1,200,000Mb as opposed to telkoms 150Mb)

Most hosts in SA are cheaper than this joke from Telkom. Intl's are cheaper still, but this is rediculous?
What I want to know is at what point does Telkom over step it's mandate?
I mean they are the telecoms provider, an ISP, and now a hosting provider? Soon they will been opening Pick 'n Telkom, where you can buy your food...

Jeepers, I had no idea hosting cost this much money. The way it's advertised you swear it was a cheap service. Unlike the account RPM got.
It's time big business put their foot down in SA.

I think the telkom head needs a kick in the *** because he seems to be spending to much time on his VIRTUAL REALITY headset than actually look at REAL REALITY

Unbelievably cheap. Do you have an account with them? Just wondering about the quality of their service and support. Always remembering the phrase "you get what you pay for".

I can't imagine anyone actually buying the telscum package. They probably get new biz guys who don't really know how much they'll need. Beyond that, i can't imagine anyone in their right mind buying it.

No, not yet! I was just researching s clients these days can't afford the prices South African hosting companies charge. I am not blaming them at all, i feel really sorry for them as telkom is killing their business.

But i am sure their customer support will be good they are one of the largest hosting companies in the country.
