Telkom is expected to post flat revenue and focus on new chief, Vodacom stake

But while Telkom's core fixed-line business is faltering in the face of tougher competition, some analysts are betting that the company will sell its stake in cellphone operator Vodacom to joint owner Vodafone - a reason to hold on to the stock.

I'm a little confused. How is them selling Vodacom a reason to hold on to Telkom stock?

Probably because it'll give the company a massive cash injection, which will get paid back to shareholders as a dividend at some point. Really, really short term thinking, which I guess is par for the course with these idiots...

Good for shareholders. Bad for Telkom in the long run.

I think its better in the long run for us if Vodacom is sold off because then they have to work for their profit unlike now where its nicely offset. Also with their ngn investment I wonder if they won't end up using Vodacom sale money for that.. hehe so much for investors :p

R7bn for IPTV
R30bn for NGN
~R3bn for BCX

Looks like, maybe they will have to sell Vodacom share.

hehe - me hopes
