Telkom launches 2TB for R699 LTE deal

I have Fibre but it's good to know there are options for those without a Fibre line

Telkom mobile is easily the fastest around here, Rain being the slowest. Anyone know if the Huawei B316-932 is compatible with the Telkom's 2300MHz network?

It should be according to the specs. (i.e. B40)

Thanks - it's been gathering dust since I dropped rain. Might as well put it to use and save some money while I what for fibre.

This has been the case for me also as of a few months ago. Like exactly after 1 hour it dies. Someone else also complained about Telkom going off after an hour here in cape town wonder if changes have been made somewhere. The only networks that stay up here now are voda/rain shared tower.
Now I have a better idea as to why Telkom LTE takes about 2 to 3 hours to recover to full signal strength where I am in PE, after a power outage.

Compared to my main connection through MTN LTE, which returns to a full 5 bars on the router immediately after the lights come back on.

Telkom immediately recovers after loadshedding it just 'dies' quicker which it hasn't done before.

I have better speeds on Telkom LTE then on Rain 5G in my area. The only issue I have now, when applying for the R699 option, (month to month), it still shows 24 month. I really want this but not going to do this if it is a 24 month contract.

I was on Telkom 1TB deal for about 4 months +-. Had to pay a month extra after cancellation but that was it.

My "contract" also said 24 months".

I phoned in to apply and phoned in to cancel. Service was good for me although I know it's not the case for many.

As eith other companies, I have found asking to speak to the creditors dept (acting as if you owe money) gets better results.

Can't seem to see on their site how long the data is valid for on the month to month option....
Anyone know?
IT rolled over after 30 days on the 1TB deal I had. So if I used 600GB I would have 1.4TB the next month.

60 days was the limit so another 600GB usage in month two would have me on 1.6TB the month therafter.

I might consider this, I am on the old "uncapped" but get soft capped around 1TB deal, speeds are dam good service and connection even during loadshedding is rock solid. Been done maybe 4 hours in 6 years.

I have the booster/router hard wired gigabit network too so I just need to pop the new sim in

Those are some solid speeds and latency there. Which router?

Huawei b618-65d with poynting antenna installed from the first telkom deal

The initial deal came with a b315 after three years I just bought a new router and 3X the speed

I wonder if Afrihost will ever offer this deal since they offer other Telkom LTE packages? @AfriNatic

Morning,

I will enquire from our LTE team if we plan on offerin this package.

Usually these offers from Telkom just like the 1TB deal is limited offers and aren't offered to wholesalers to resell.

Just got my sim and router on the 24 months contract today. I tried ordering online but that process was slow so I just went to my local Telkom store and they sorted me out in less than 2 hours (kinda).

These speeds are at 6pm in Secunda, Mpumalanga. So for any similar (or bigger) towns you should be fine. The ping is a bit concerning but I'm happy to be watching 1080p videos on three devices concurrently (was just testing lol).

The D-link router is somehow failing to give me a 5GHz wifi network. I'll try to sort it out later. Right now I'm updating my Steam, GOG, Xbox and Ubi libraries. Feels good to have (virtually) unlimited fast internet again!

unless you are wired into the router dont expect to much better ping side, if you can get a poynting you can bump those speeds even more!
