Telkom LIT prepaid bundles launched

So these bundles only included data for music and video not everyday data?

Not bad. How much data does streaming a 90 minute soccer match use? @ 720p

Fine print for LIT contract says video can't exceed 360p.

That is for the unlimited LIT service included in freeme contracts.

I would assume that those limitations won't apply on these bundles as they are already capped in terms of usage it would be a major fail if they cap the quality too.

Yup.

Hopefully.

Dear Telkom

Dear Telkom

Thank you for this product for prepaid users.
We applaud you for making the first move on this and i am sure its a winning product.

However i believe there is lots of room for improvement on this product.

Firstly :

R99 - 10 Gig is a great start
R149 - 30 Gig can be included
R199 - 50 Gig should be implemented
R249 - 80 Gig Should be added on

I recommend you add a general browsing data allocation to the packages as follows

Secondly

R99 Package - Add on 3 Gig general browsing
R149 Package - Add on 5 Gig general browsing
R199 Package - Add on 10 Gig general browsing
R249 Package - Add on 15 Gig general browsing

Last but not least

After implementing the above you need the capacity to ensure you can keep customers happy in high traffic areas. If a customer is not using the Telkom service then they would need help as Telkom will have the best Value product on the market.

Hope you take notice of the smart ideas you get from the Mybb forum members.

The LIT Video bundle is a perfect addon for Smartbroadband Wireless capped users. Add the LIT streaming and 500GB nightsurfer and you have a very decent offering.

Agreed 100 %

Agreed 100% !

But we need the Browsing data so we can post on Mybb and check emails and Whatsapp !

No worries i will be emailing Mr Maseko on this.

This is a winner Through n Through.

It just needs fine tuning.

Rain Rain Rain Rain Rain Rain.

Surely one has to pay subscription to utilise those services. Rather pay R80 and have freedom to explore...

If Lit service included unlimited viewing without being capped that would be a fantastic.. I watched with mtn front row about 200 gigs per month

Bought the prepaid bundle, and I can confirm that they do indeed cap the quality. When running YouTube my speeds get throttled to around 1 Mbps. Trying to stream anything above 360-480p at those speeds is painful. Also, I can't even get Netflix to work. Not sure if there's something extra I have to do (website is a mess, can't find much info on that), but streaming from Netflix does NOT go off of this bundle balance. It uses my regular bundle instead. Tested on another device that only has this bundle, and Netflix wouldn't load at all (YouTube loaded fine though, albeit at the slower speeds).

So yeah, I'd steer clear of this deal unless 360p is acceptable for you for some odd reason.

I'm planning on testing it this weekend. I have a LTE advanced phone and in coverage so want to see how good or bad this bundles. Thanks for the feedback.

But are the music services are still okay regardless of quality?

Would be interested to hear whether you have the same experience. I've tested using two separate bundles on two phones, one desktop, and a laptop. Also tried at two separate locations that give me 16-25 Mbps speeds normally. But so far this has definitely been a waste of money for me.

As I mentioned in another post, I have been able to get around the throttling while using a VPN, but it doesn't make use of the bundle that way so the bundle itself is still useless.

Since the world cup is over, I'd like to ask if the LIT soccer bundles are for the EPL/SS3 or?
