Telkom LIT TV and DSTV NOW issues

Hi guys

I recently got my LIT tv box from Telkom. I signed into my google account and downloaded DSTV now.

I now need to register my device by going to manage device. I select register and I then at an error stating “registration error: the device is currently registered to another user. Please log in with the previous users credentials, go to DSTV NOW settings, select manage devices and delete the device”

The issue is that this is a brand new device, came sealed. How can it be registered to another user?

How do I get this fixed, I done a factory reset and thru the process 2 times but with the same result.

I got this error on an old tab. Interwebz said rooted devices or shared/open software may cause it. DSTv call centre was no help. Gave up in the end.

Weird that it happens on a new lit box though. I would return it.

Try side loading the DStv now app from apkpure. That will be the native android version. See if that allows you to log in. If so, then it's the playstore version being faulty. If you successful, then upgrade it on playstore to have the android TV version. Hope that helps.

Here is the link to the app. Just download it and install it.

You can either download it from a browser on the Lit box, or download it on your computer and copy it to a USB which you can connect to your Lit box.
You will need to download es file explorer from the playstore if you haven't already done so, in order to browse external devices like USB etc.

Just a note, it is possible that your device was a refurbished device that a customer may have returned. They could have had the DStv app on it, thus the serial of that device is linked to their account still as they never removed the device before returning it. I know Telkom Menlyn had 7 devices returned and 'fixed'. They were the A06 version as I recall when I went there.

Is the serial on yours A06 or A07?

Have the same issue now.

Never logged in with another account. Haven't used app for about week, seems like might be app update on 4th


Samsung s7 though

Tried installing from api above. No joy

Any other suggestions?
